TROOP 13

Troop 13 is a stop motion short about a boyscout camping trip that goes south. This is another film that I created with the two incredible filmmakers, Reece Gartner and Alice Vogel. Creating this film was a huge task, and we worked for a week straight without sleeping or eating much. The work definitely paid off, and we’re so proud of what we were able to accomplish in such a short time frame. Thanks to our voice actors, Ethan Fyler, Jake Pletsch, and Ashtyn Bahr, and musician Chris Hepola.

Though, we only spent a week actively working on this project, we spent plenty of time planning and preparing for it. Two weeks before we started, our small team was creating character designs, writing a script, designing an environment, and creating a production schedule. We wanted to head into this final project fully prepared. I spent the couple weeks before we started, needlefelting the characters, while Reece sewed the small outfits and storyboarded, and Alice typed up our script.

We spent three full days building the set, and two days filming. Each of us took turns staying up all night to edit and animate facial expressions over top. We ran into some issues during the editing process, because I was supposed to sequence and 2D animate, Reece was going to clean it up, and Alice would edit. My files somehow became corrupted after I sent them over to Reece, so she started from scratch and I cleaned up her sequence, then Alice received the sequence later because of this issue, so she was a trooper and finished audio up quickly.

We learned a lot about working efficiently in a time crunch and how to overcome problems (that always seem to pop up!) even in a short time frame. We are all so proud of this project!
